The age old argument of when flash should and shouldnt be used.
I think this is a clear cut example of excellent flash work used at the right time.
When the budget means that you can advertise the url (no google) and the experience makes you want to learn more…

Due to the lengths I went to to obtain the ‘Holy Grail’ of IMD tomfoolery, a few drunken students are missing their kidneys and a ’shopkeeeper’ I know is very happy, but by God it was worth it.

Each release includes the 2004 digitally remastered version of the movie and, as bonus material, the theatrical edition of the film. That means […]

In April , Microsoft was finally forced to update how ActiveX plug-ins behave in Internet Explorer. So now, if you go to a website that has ActiveX elements (including Flash), you will see a tooltip that says: “Click to activate and use this control”. I had a few problems with this myself…
Now ActiveX elements cannot […]

There is an interesting story on ABC news today about a bidder at auction who bid over $95 Million for the 1941 portrait of Dora Marr by Picasso which depicts the artist’s lover, who influenced much of his work throughout the 1930s and ’40s. The bidder then refused to give his details.
What’s also interesting is […]

One of Flickr’s current threads is producing some interesting results, including this funny little number, although a five-frame retelling of Franz’s house’s apocalyptic mud fight would rule all!

For years I’ve been unable to say the words ‘hot tub’ without following up with a growled ‘FULL O’ WAT-UH!’.
That’s because of a Saturday Night Live sketch from 1980, featuring Eddie Murphy doing a fantastic James Brown impression. Truly one for the ages.

While not a big fan of mixing politicking and music, I can’t criticise artists for doing so. Musicians like Zac de la Rocha, Neil Young, Thom Yorke and…emm…Kanye West to name a few have managed to create clever, rousing lambasts that make you think, and keep their dignity while doing so.
But I challenge you […]

I came across the new DV8 website recently whilst checking out befast studio Front’s portfolio. I have a passing interest in DV8 - I used to work for the former owners before Eastwoods Clothing bought the rights to use the name. Anyway, I was keen to see how the site would end up because I really liked what Eastwoods had done to the DV8 brand and I have a high opinion of Front….

Following Ciaran’s post on Clockwork Orange site’s style (or lack thereof) over substance, I thought I’d highlight an article I recently came across, namely Gerry McGovern’s Graphic Design Plays a Minor Role on the Web. It’s pretty short as online articles go, but it makes for good reading. Basically, what Gerry is trying to say […]

I thought I’d kick off the run-up to the third annual IMD reunion by starting a series of posts charting stand-out moments in IMD history. This is open to all to tell the ‘Warthog about your favourite moments during those sometimes glorious, sometimes hideous four years, and if we get enough we might set up […]
