Police are investigating a disgruntled eBayer who took online revenge after finding a laptop he paid £375 which, he said, did not work.
The buyer recovered the hard drive from the malfunctioning notebook, finding it full of personal details, allegedly including access to email accounts, 90 voyeuristic leg shots taken on the London Underground and gay […]

Any font on web pages perfectly?

Date May 31st, 2006 Comment No Comments

Over the last several months, a small group of web developers and designers have been hard at work perfecting a method to insert rich typography into web pages without sacrificing accessibility, search engine friendliness, or markup semantics.
sIFR is meant to replace short passages of plain browser text with text rendered in your typeface of choice, […]

Snakes! On a Plane!

Date May 31st, 2006 Comment 5 Comments

This is truly a miracle of the modern age. When news of the upcoming and boringly-titled film ‘Pacific Air Flight 121′- starring Samuel L Jackson, in which hundreds of snakes accidentally are set free on a commercial flight- broke on the internet, it quickly became a phenomenon.
Following a blog entry made by screenwriter Josh Friedman, […]

Myself and Mr. Jordan were talking about this the other day, and I thought I’d share it with the rest of you.
Recent versions (2005-onwards I think) of Apple’s PowerBooks and iBooks come with with “Sudden Motion Sensor” technology, which helps to prevent disk failures if the computer is dropped. When dropped, the computor will instantly […]

Search Engines HO!!

Date May 30th, 2006 Comment 4 Comments

After some stern work in the wee hours last week, we are now hitting the high ranks in the search engines.
Pretty much every search engine but the daddy (Google) have spidered the Warthog and we are getting awesome rankings.
These are more fun ones, but you would be surprised where we are cropping up!
examples:
Daily Warthog (number […]

Black Arm Begins Global Campaign

Date May 27th, 2006 Comment No Comments

A seemingly harmless dentist’s convention turned into a free-for-all last Sunday, when the Black Arm channeled his power through former MP Miroslav Macek. What followed was shocking, tragic, and very, very funny.

Evil garden dragon!

Date May 25th, 2006 Comment 2 Comments

This little dragon is made out of paper - you simply cut it out and stick it together, and stand it on a table or window ledge. But when you move around, the dragon’s head seems to follow you around the room. Have a look at the video, to see what we mean. The effect […]

This is the actual card George Lucas sent James Cameron to congratulate him on the opening-weekend box office success of Titanic. Bunch of smug, self-congratulatory feckers if you ask me, but nice design!

Flaming Snurzles

Date May 24th, 2006 Comment 1 Comment

Two new trailers for the upcoming Marvel flick Ghost Rider have appeared online, and it’s pretty much verging on the edge of ridiculousness in my opinion. But hats off to the effects team for the shot below; the old West Ghost Rider kicks ass!

Another blast from the past; I hope to upload the Silver Snurzle site in its entirety sometime this weekend, but for now, here’s a few bits and pieces that harken back to the day of apocalyptic mud fights and time trials ’round the lab. First off, lead creative director of Silver Fox, Mr Ken McSnaggle, […]

Playstation 3

Date May 22nd, 2006 Comment 3 Comments

What is with the conceptual, and as far as I know, final design for the Playstation 3? Sony have recently abandoned the ‘boomerang’ type in favour of the old controller, which in my opinion is unbeatable. However, not only have they opted for a George-Foreman-grill-meets-coffin-look for the machine itself, but they’ve shamelessly ripped off the […]

Outlaw Image Restored

Date May 20th, 2006 Comment 4 Comments

A photo of the famous outlaw gang ‘The Dunclug Thugs’ has been restored by the Franz J. Goatherder Institute. The image depicts the founding members of the gang, ‘Wild’ Ciaran Jordan, Mad Dog McBrycicle and ‘The Kid’ Hoeritzauer in a really authentic 18th Century Saloon that has in no way been Photoshopped.
Honest.

It couldn’t have planned more….well, it couldn’t have been planned.
No-one would have believed, in the last hours of IMD, that so few would risk so much for the chance to proclaim an end to Block 17, to Buffalo Hunky Doreys at four in the morning, to edging your way past Franz’s socks for a […]

Designer’s Dilemmas - Incorporating Logos

Date May 20th, 2006 Comment 3 Comments

Here’s a question I’ve seen floating around quite a few blogs and support forums recently; I’m sure it’s happened to you all a few times, I know it’s happened to me. You begin creating a site for a client, but they inform you they already have a logo… a terrible logo…they want you to use. […]

Hard Rock Hallelujah

Date May 20th, 2006 Comment 2 Comments

Eurovision time again, and the Finnish entry, Lordi, has to be my tip for the top. Kind of like a cross between Spinal Tap and Skeletor’s stag ‘do, with lyrics like “Wings on my back, I got horns on my head. My fangs are sharp and my eyes are red” how can they fail to […]
