The 1% Rule

The Guardian has an excellent piece on a theory called the 1% rule.

It’s an emerging rule of thumb that suggests that if you get a group of 100 people online then one will create content, 10 will “interact” with it (commenting or offering improvements) and the other 89 will just view it.

If Web 2.0 is going to work, we as developers need to start thinking like a normal person. People are selfish, and the best application will take advantage of that. How does this effect sites like You Tube / Flickr, etc and is the mindset of the average user changing. Are we slowly becoming creators or do we refuse to collaberate?
