Wait a darn second! Thats not Marty!

I heard this rumour years ago, that MJ Fox wasnt the origional Marty Mc Fly.
But i just thought it was that they offered the job to someone else first.
Well it seems Back to the Future was actually filmed twice—once with Eric Stoltz in the role of Marty McFly, and once with Michael J. Fox. But despite Studio proclamations that only a few scenes were involved, the truth is that the majority of the film was shot with Eric Stoltz. The other actors confirmed it was flmed twice.

I wonder why they reworked the entire movie? There has got to be a story there

Michael J. Fox had always been the first choice for Marty, but scheduling conflicts due to his work on “Family Ties”, initially prevented him from taking the part. Eric Stoltz was initially cast as Marty, but Michael replaced him, driving straight to the movie set after taping of the show was finished every day. He averaged about one or two hours’ sleep during production. The bulk of the production was filmed from 6pm to 6am, with the daylight scenes filmed at the weekend.
A similar case was that of Indiana Jones. Tom Selleck was all but ready to begin shooting Raiders of the Lost Ark (the bonus DVD that comes with the trilogy box set actually has footage of him in action), but contractual obligations to Magnum PI meant he had to leave the production. Harrison Ford was moonlighting as a carpenter in a building near Pinewood studios, so George Lucas, who knew him from Star Wars, gave him an audition. Can you really imagine anyone else as Indiana Jones?
Oh, and Eric Stoltz played Rocky Dennis in that film with Cher.

I bow to your superior knowledge my liege!
Awesome, didnt know that about Raiders also.
You are most wise.

Surley after star wars, Ford didn’t need to go back to being a carpenter?

Whats with the size of docs hand in that photo? Is there tickery afoot?

Possibly trickery a hand! …. get it? foot, hand, its funny

Maybe using this Stoltz bloke was the only way to make the movie, without the future McFly meeting the past/present McFly, causing an explosion that would ripe a whole in space time that would have surley have destroyed the universe…. or if lucky just our galaxy…..heavy

I watched Back to the Future on the telly the other day, and something troubled me…Marty McFly goes back in time to get his Ma to meet his Da, but initally his Ma fancies him. He goes under the name ‘Calvin Klein’, and eventually befriends his Da and gets his parents together.
BUT…fast foward until Marty is around the same age as he was when he went back in time. Wouldn’t his Da get a wee bit suspcious of the fact that his son looks EXACTLY like the stranger who helped him get it together with his wife? The same stranger who mysteriously disappeared the night after his made out with his ma in her car?

No

He changed his hair….. any wore his jeans inside out to avoid detection

I’ve got a bootleg vid of the other cut of Back to the Future. Bob Larmour was a great Doc Brown, but George Moore just didn’t cut the mustard as Marty McFly…

Looks Michael is doing well so far having Parkinson. When I first heard he had the disease, I thought he’d be dead in a few years. Glad to hear he still kicking and making a difference in the world.
