The Specs system measures the average speed of a vehicle

A camera system which measures the average speed of vehicles is to be officially launched at one of Northern Ireland’s accident blackspots. The Speed Enforcement Camera System (Specs) is to be unveiled on the main road between Newry and Belfast.
Fifteen people have died on the A1 dual carriageway in the last five years.
Cameras have been installed at Sheepbridge, between Cloghue roundabout and the border and just before the Mourne Country roundabout.
When it is launched on Monday, it will be the first use of Specs in Northern Ireland.
The aim of Specs is to monitor speeds over a longer distance.
