Apple’s leopard stinks of business men

I remember when Apple meant something. When the spirit of the san fran seventies and usable software was something you could get behind. I have never bought a PC. I bought Apple because they thought of the person before the process.

The attitude of Steve Jobs (ceo) who won top marketing genius (John Scully) from Coca Cola by asking him ‘Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life, or do you want to change the world?‘. He later became ceo of apple while Jobs was away (but thats another story)
The design fair of Johnathan Ive changing how we feel about the beige box and making the digital music world come alive.

From what I can tell there is a change a brewing in Cupertino, California.
Stocks, shares and profit…. now the buyers are seen as walking dollar signs with white headphones.

With recent (this week) reports from Apple that evidence found by an independent counsel meant that the company’s financial statements in the last few years and through its fiscal quarter ended April 1, 2006, should “no longer be relied upon.” meaning that they will probably have to to revise its financial statements for several prior years.

Jobs health has been under question, coupled with his trademark ‘keynotes’ being majority handled by Schiller, Bertrand and co. We have to wonder if things are changing for the worse at Apple and Jobsy is moving aside for the business men to take over operations.

How this is seen by the public is that they didnt get their iPhone, touch screen iPods and shiny new operating system. Just some videos of things to come and playground taunts at the sleeping giant Microsoft.

MY EYES!

Dave think u might have lost sight of a few things here.
First is the conference was development conference - over the last few years apple have used this to showcase things that would probably be better suited to a MacWorld event but such is the pace of development and the need to get things out for Christmas / School season that the keynote has developed a wider significance. Perhap this is just a return to normality for the Development Keynote Address.
Secondly Apple has been pretty busy of late with the migration to Intel, something they have achieved in an amazingly short period. I remember hearing a few months ago about how the intel platform would be dodgy for a few years and the whole process would take ages. None of that materialized and the transition to Intel can only be viewed as huge achievement. That may explain why Apple the pace of other Apple developments has perhaps slowed.

Well put, but if you read again you will see that I am not putting down their rate of development (how this is seen by the public…) I am questioning the changes within Apple that will effect the company in years to come.

A shift in mentality, from passion to business.

It happened when Scully took over from Jobs and I can see it happening again.
Perhaps the state of the company in 97 will return if the mentality of Apple doesnt change.

I think the passion has left and so too are the passionate people.

…MY EYES!

That image is permently burnt into my optic nerve…… thanks dave
