I believe in Harvey Dent too

Date May 20th, 2007 Comment 9 Comments

This is the cleverest piece of viral marketing I’ve seen in a while. A few weeks back, Warner Brothers released a one-page teaser website for upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight, titled “I Believe in Harvey Dent”, and featuring a fake election poster for new character Harvey Dent, a district attorney who fellow nerds know […]

Should had a cup of tea before you started.

Date January 1st, 2007 Comment No Comments

I love tea and must confess to being a Nambarrie man through and through. Earlier though I read at BusinessEye that Nambarrie’s great tea rival Punjana had launched a new site with Belfast company StreamOn. I went along to check it out after reading that the site had won the recent Belfast Business Awards, Best […]

This is the actual card George Lucas sent James Cameron to congratulate him on the opening-weekend box office success of Titanic. Bunch of smug, self-congratulatory feckers if you ask me, but nice design!

DV8 Stores new website

Date May 5th, 2006 Comment 3 Comments

I came across the new DV8 website recently whilst checking out befast studio Front’s portfolio. I have a passing interest in DV8 - I used to work for the former owners before Eastwoods Clothing bought the rights to use the name. Anyway, I was keen to see how the site would end up because I really liked what Eastwoods had done to the DV8 brand and I have a high opinion of Front….

Aisle of Averages

Date May 5th, 2006 Comment No Comments

“Perspective shots of grocery store aisles are distorted back out of perspective so that the shelf forms a rectangle in the picture plane instead of trapezoid. Then four passes of motion blur at 999 to arrive at a kind of loose average or wash of the shelf’s chromatic contents.”

BBC 2.0.

Date April 28th, 2006 Comment 6 Comments

The BBC are asking for your ideas in order to reboot their website. Personally, I think the current version is in no way in need of a makeover, but with prizes galore for highly-rated entries, why not give it a shot? It’ll be hard with competition like this, though.

How C.R.A.P is Your Site Design?

Date April 19th, 2006 Comment 1 Comment

Saw this today and thought is was funny, a story about how good design is based on the C.R.A.P. principle where C.R.A.P. stands for Contrast Repetition Alignment Proximity, and when the boss tells you that your design is crap, they’re actually giving you positive reinforcement.
Okay, that last part was made up, sorry. “Crappy work” is […]
